As I drove near the entrance of the Magee Marsh parking lot, vehicles ahead of me slowed down and eventually stopped.

Not unusual at this wonderful wildlife area on the southwestern shore of Lake Erie, north of Oak Harbor, Ohio.

Magee Marsh is well known for its wildlife.

Especially for the flights of waterfowl and migrating songbirds seen each spring.

Photo of the Week: Bald Eagles on the Frozen Ice

Large white-headed black birds with bright yellow legs and sharp talons face each other on the frozen marsh ice.

When I saw the pair of Bald Eagles standing on the frozen ice of the marsh at Lake Erie Metropark, it looked to me the birds were in deep discussion.

I first saw the eagles flying low over the treetops and when they disappeared from sight, I suspected they might have landed on the ice.

I drove toward the open marsh, passing a flock of about 150 American Robins foraging berries in the dense shrubs lining the road.

Photo of the Week: Gulls on the Move

Gulls scatter across the blue sky with white fluffy clouds.

A crisp cold fall morning had me wishing I brought some hot chocolate in a thermos with me for my morning birdwatching.

The temperature was less than 25 degrees Farenheit. There was a bit of a breeze over the water. I was thankful the sun was out.

I was dressed in my warm long down coat, winter boots, and warm gloves as I peered over the clear blue water.
