Storytelling and College History Class

If you’re new to my site, you may not know I’m a big fan of Storify (which unfortunately closed down on May 16, 2018).

I love using Storify because it’s an easy way for me to use different social networks, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Instagram, as well as other web resources to tell stories. I add my notes and thoughts to the story to make it more personal.

Over the past four years, I’ved used Storify to create over 100 stories from meetups, workshops, and conferences.

As I was checking my Twitter stream this afternoon, I came across an interesting tweet:

Anthony Bourdain Storify Tweet

It’s not often I see someone RT one of my tweets from two months ago.

So I replied back, asking about the tweet. And had a nice Twitter conversation with Aaron Bae, a college student in Arizona taking a class on Mexican history.

It turns out Aaron’s instructor asked students to create a Storify.

And the instructor recommended my Storify of Anthony Bourdain’s show on Detroit as a good example. (I’ve since converted the Storify to a blog post, Recap: Anthony bourdain’s Season 2 Finale: Parts Unknown Detroit.

What a pleasant surprise. Thank you Matt Garcia. I hope Aaron and his classmates enjoyed telling stories with Storify as much as I did.
