The snow storm that swept through southeast Michigan yesterday left behind a sparkling winter wonderland of snow and ice on trees, houses, streets, and buildings.
As I took a morning walk today in our neighborhood, I noticed how calm it was.
There was no breeze. No one else was out and there were no sounds of cars or other vehicles on the streets and roads.
It felt like I was out in the country rather than a suburban neighbhorhood.
I could easily hear the chirping of the Cardinals and Black-capped Chickadees in the trees as my boots made a crunch-crunch sound over the ice-crusted sidewalks.
Looking up, I saw the faint remains of the planet Venus and gulls soaring through the blue sky as the yellow glow from the sunrise spread across the sky.
What a lovely way to start the day!
