Photo of the Week: Welcome to Trenton Mural

On my way to the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge this weekend, my eyes caught a glimpse of a brightly colored mural at the West Jefferson and King Road intersection in Trenton, Michigan.

I had to turn around and go back to the intersection to get a better look at the mural.

And, of course, get a photo!

Turns out there are two murals under the train bridge at the intersection.

The murals are part of Trenton’s plan to promote the city as the home of the refuge as well as part of Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail.

What I found fascinating about the murals: TreeTown Murals came up with the design, but community volunteers are helping to paint the murals.

How cool is that?
