Photo of the Week: Sunshine at America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Longtime readers of this blog know one of my favorite things to do on Thanksgiving Day morning is to go to midtown Detroit to watch the start of the annual America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade down Woodward Avenue.

This year, with severe cold and strong northwest winds, I chose to stay home and watch the parade on TV.

And learned Wayne State University, one of the official parade partners, launched a new balloon: Sunshine!

The smiling bright yellow sun balloon with distinctive cobalt blue sunglasses made a splash at this year’s parade.

I’m sad to say goodbye to Kermit the Frog, loved how the balloon handlers responded to parade watchers shouting, “Spin it, spin it!”
