Photo of the Week: Spring Snowstorm in Michigan

Waking up to a white blanket of snow and ice crystals on trees and plants just beginning to bud out in spring is not what many people in southeast Michigan look forward to in mid-April.

Yet, that’s exactly what we had when a sudden cold front moved through our area.

Light snow fell throughout the night, resulting in a winter-looking morning in mid April.

I caught this shot of the glistening snow and ice early just after sunrise. By 2pm in the afternoon, all the snow had melted.
