Photo of the Week: September 2024 Partial Lunar Eclipse

It was a remarkable week when in one evening, we saw the full moon, Harvest Moon, supermoon, as well as a partial lunar eclipse.

On September 17, 2024, we watched from the shore of Lake Erie as the full moon rose in southeast Michigan around 8PM Eastern Daylight Time.

A few hours later, we watched the partial lunar eclipse (when the partial shadow of the Earth covered an upper part of the Moon) from my backyard around 11PM.

I’m thankful skies were somewhat clear (clouds obscured the moon as it rose over the horizon), then dissipated.

When I met some birders later in the week, and asked them if they saw the eclipse, several didn’t know we had a partial eclipse.

Did you watch the full moon or partial eclipse last week?
