Photo of the Week: Seed Savers Exchange Catalog

On a cold, wintry Sunday morning in southeast Michigan where it’s been snowing for the past two hours, browsing the bright flower and delicious looking vegetable photos in this year’s Seed Savers Exchange seed catalog brightens my day.

I only recently learned about Seed Savers, and their mission to keep heirlooms in our gardens and on our tables, through friends I’ve met at our local Wild Ones chapter.

While Wild Ones is focused on native plants for a healthy planet, many of our chapter members are also vegetable gardeners.

I’ve had wonderful conversations with them this year as I’ve learned more about heirloom vegetables.

And placed my first order from Seed Savers for Jimmy Nardello’s pepper and miniature yellow bell pepper seeds (both had high yields!)

For next year, I’ve found five new-to-me flower and vegetable species I’m planning to buy from Seed Savers.
