Photo of the Week: Sailboats Mural at Great Lakes Crossroad in Saginaw

“Wait, can you slow down?” I said to my husband as we drove through downtown Saginaw, Michigan.

“I thought I saw a cool-looking mural on that building, something with boats, at the back of the parking lot.”

We doubled back, took the street along the Saginaw River, and found the mural.

Sailboats Mural at Great Lakes Crossroad

You might miss it if you weren’t looking as you drive down the main street of Saginaw.

The mural is on the back of the Great Lakes Crossroad building, an office building along the riverfront.

The blue and green colors on the red brick building stood out for me as did the movement the artist depicted in the sailboats.

Though there looked to be more than a dozen murals in the area nearby, I couldn’t find anything in my research to tell me what artist created the sailboats mural.

Only a 2009 article with plans to convert the building, which was the former National Guard Armory in downtown Saginaw.

If you know who the mural artist is, let me know!
