Photo of the Week: Rainbow at Gotfredson Marsh

I never know what I’ll see when I visit one of my favorite birding spots, Gotfredson Marsh in Superior Township, on the edge of Washtenaw County in Michigan.

Typically, I’ll find the copper-topped Sandhill Cranes on the south end of the marsh, the majestic Trumpeter Swans and their family of three cygets lazily swimming in the open waters while the stealthy Green Heron quietly sits on a log jutting into the marsh.

Every so often I’ll discover Turkey Vultures circling high in the sky, an Indigo Bunting perching in a dead tree branch, or the Eastern Kingbirds tending to their nestlings.

But this time when I visited the marsh after the rain, I was treated to a beautiful rainbow over the marsh.

First time I’ve seen a rainbow there!
