When I was young, one of my favorite flowers in spring (along with lilacs) was the iris.
They are still my favorite flowers, joined by several others, including columbine and daffodils.
Since they only bloom for a two or three weeks at most, seeing flowering irises reminds me to enjoy spring while I can. Before the hot summer weather arrives.
