Happy anniversary, Plymouth Ice Festival!
Returning to Kellogg Park and downtown Plymouth, Michigan, the annual ice festival returned this weekend with dozens of ice sculptures to check out as you stroll the sidewalks and streets.
While this year’s event won’t have live ice carvings (due to COVID restrictions), there are a lot of beautiful sculptures of animals, butterflies, vehicles, dogs, etc. that were carved off site and delivered throughout the downtown area.
At least the the weather is cold and the sculptures won’t melt quickly!
Which has happened in past years when we’ve have a warm spell in southeast Michigan or rainy weather.
I’ve been going to the Plymouth Ice Festival since the 1980’s, though I’m not sure if I went to the first event.
I remember inviting my fellow co-workers at an Ann Arbor software company to attend festivals with me.
We oohed and ahhh’d over the sculptures, before finally succombing to the cold and enjoying hot drinks and food at the Box Bar across the street from Kellogg Park.
Here are a few more photos of the sculptures I saw this weekend.
