Photo of the Week: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore along the southern shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Michigan.

With 200-foot-high sandstone cliffs displaying red and brown iron, black manganese, green copper, and yellow and white colors from limestone, it’s a stunning sight to see.

Add the brilliant fall colors from beech, maple, and birch trees as well as the deep evergreen from pines, and you have an amazing view you aren’t likely to forget.

I’ve been fortunate to see the rocks not only from the water during a Pictured Rocks Cruise boat last month, but from the tops of the rocks when I hiked along the trails years ago.

An impressive to see from far away as well as up close, from the top of the cliffs.
