Photo of the Week: Picasso Was Here! House

I didn’t know the backstory behind the house in downtown Plymouth, Michigan, but the pink colored house sure caught my attention as I traveled into the downtown area.

With the handwritten bright pink “Picasso Was Here!“ sign on the front lawn, you can’t miss the house on Ann Arbor Trail, a couple blocks east of Kellogg Park.

Based on my years living in and around the Plymouth area, I can tell you downtown Plymouth is pretty conservative with house colors.

Which had me wondering, who paints a house bright pink?

And then adds black polka dots on the pink paint?

Well, from what I learned in a January 2020 Hometown Life story, the homeowner is waiting for approval from the city of Plymouth for a land use change.

Which would allow the homeowner to demolish the current building and build out a new two-story building in its place

And for some reason, while the process takes time, the homeowner chose to paint half the house a bright pink color.

If you’re in the Plymouth area, have you stopped by to see the Picasso Was Here! house?
