Great memories!
The ornament we bought this year when we visited Kitch-iti-iipi in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan hangs on our Christmas tree next to the brass musical ornament we bought over 20 years ago for our first Christmas together.
One of my favorite things to do during the holiday break is to sit in our living room, chatting with my family about our ornaments, when we created them, when we bought them, and all the stories that go along with them.
As you might imagine, the stories have gotten longer and longer over the years as we forget some of the background, while other people pipe in with their memories of the ornaments.
Our Christmas tree has ornaments from my childhood (lots of stories about snow forts), our son’s infatuation with Thomas the Tank Engine (when all he wanted to do was play with trains), and the handmade ornaments we created at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
As well as ornaments from our trips over the years to London, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Paris, Honolulu, Seattle, Western slope in Colorado, Phoenix, Glacier National Park in Montana, and Orlando.
Makes for a fun evening of stories!
