Photo of the Week: Octopus in Canton

Imagine my surprise as I was walking around Canton, Ohio this weekend, enjoying the warm weather and sunshine, only to see octopus tentacles reaching skyward from a downtown building.

Yes, octopus tentacles.

After attending WordCamp North Canton this weekend, I wondered about the downtown area, admiring the beautiful architecture of buildings that date back to the 1880’s.

I discovered downtown Canton, Ohio has a wonderful outside public art exhibit, with sculptures and drawings along the sidewalks and public spaces.

Walking down a one-way back alley, I came upon this amazing building with the octopus tentacles steaming outwards.

I searched on the Visit Stark County website, but couldn’t find background on the octopus.

Do you know the story behind the octopus tentacles? If you do, can you share in the comments? I’d love to know the backstory.
