Photo of the Week: Novak Djokovic wins Wimbledon 2014 Gentlemen’s Singles Championship

In a thrilling match that lasted almost four hours and went to five sets, Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer today to win the Wimbledon 2014 Gentlemen’s Singles Championship. Final score for the match: 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.

It was an amazing match to watch. Both players played extremely well, with only one service break in the first three sets. Federer took the first set, but Djokovic took the second and third sets and it looked like he was well on his way to winning the match.

However, Federer battled back from 2-5 in the fourth set and finally won the set 7-5 to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, on Federer’s serve at 5-4 Djokovic on 15-40, Federer sent a backhand into the net to end the match.

At the trophy ceremony, Djokovic said to Federer, Thank you for letting me win today. He went on to say Federer is the most most successful player, ever.

Djokovic continued,

This is the tournament I always dreamed of winning.

The first tennis match I ever saw in my life was Wimbledon, when I was five years old.

Wimbledon is the one tennis tournament I don’t miss watching, but my Comcast connection and all ESPN channels started faulting in the third set. I was able to finally see the final game on the ESPN recap after the match ended.

This is the second time in the past week Comcast has failed me for tennis. Same thing happened last weekend when Comcast and ESPN reception was down for over three hours during Wimbledon matches.

Looks like it’s time to sign up with another cable company.
