Photo of the Week: Northern Lights, October 2024

When we saw the amazing northern lights in May 2024, we were thrilled. Northern lights rarely reach as far south as southeast Michigan.

Never thought five months later we would get another chance to see northern lights in our community.

But we did, due to an 11-year solar activity cycle known as the solar maximum. (New phrase for me!)

According to Associated Press, our sun appears to be at or near the peak of that cycle. Which gave folks in the Northern Hemisphere some great views of the northern lights as far south as Florida.

For my readers in the Northern Hemisphere, were you able to see the northern lights this week?
