Photo of the Week: Newburgh Pointe in Autumn

It was a classic sunny autumn day in southeastern Michigan when I stopped at Newburgh Pointe at Edward Hines Park in Livonia, Michigan.

The temperature was cool, skies were blue, and the autumn colors of the sugar maple and hickory trees brilliant as they reflected on the water.

Few fisherman were out on the dock; most were fishing from the shoreline.

I managed to catch sight of a Great Blue Heron as he strode slowly along the shoreline at dusk looking for his evening meal.

Many of the summer blooms are spent in the rain garden, but the New England asters continue to bloom.

On weekend evenings (when the weather permits), musicians and bands play at the rest area, in the back overlooking the lake.

Local people bring their chairs and stop in for the evening to listen to the music. Last night two guitarists were playing classic rock and roll tunes.

What’s autumn like in your area? Have you seen much color change?
