A bird I see year round in our southeast Michigan area, the slender, graceful Mourning Dove is a bird I see or hear daily.
Their coo-coo sound is often the first sound I hear in the morning.
This morning, with our constant rainfall, this pair of Mourning Doves joined the local House Wrens, Northern Cardinals, and Red-winged Blackbirds at the bird feeder.
If you look closely at the photo, you’ll see raindrops in lines in the background of the dove on the left and drops of rain on the wings of the dove on the right.
I’ve often been asked if you can see or hear birds during a rainfall, the answer is yes!
