Photo of the Week: Mini Daffodils in Bloom

With all the rain showers we’ve had in southeast Michigan in the past week, it’s no surprise my spring bulbs have finally started to burst into bloom.

My mini daffodils popped through the soil earlier this month.

The gorgeous yellow flowers, less than eight inches tall, started blooming a few days ago. They brighten my day when I gaze out the window each morning at my flower beds.

It seems with the alternating freezing cold/hot weather we’ve had this spring (we had snow showers forecast last night), many spring flowers are blooming later than normal.

I’m glad to finally see the beautiful colors of the pink magnolias, golden forsythias, and my yellow daffodils in bloom!

How is your garden growing in your area?

  1. Those are terrific daffodils on a beautiful day!

My native spring ephemera are popping. The Dutchman’s breeches, rue anemone, and Virginia bluebells are in full bloom, while the twinleaf has whizzed right through its bloom period and is setting seed.
