Yesterday, along with hundreds of thousands of people in the United States and around the world, I joined a local March For Our Lives event in Monroe, Michigan.
I wanted to show my support of our U.S. high school students working toward getting a comprehensive gun control bill passed by the U.S. Congress to address the issues of mass shootings at our schools.
Led by Monroe High School students, the event was attended by close to 200 people who gathered on a chilly cold morning at St. Mary’s Park in downtown Monroe.
I was inspired by their words, encouraging people to take action, get involved, and vote.
We are not just kids. We are kids with a voice who will vote tomorrow.
The event ended with 17 minutes of silence, to remember the lives of the 17 people killed in the shooting last month at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
