Let’s meet at the fountain,
is a common message I’ve told my friends over the years when we plan to get together in Plymouth, Michigan.
The Kellogg Park fountain is a well-known landmark for people in our western metro Detroit area.
You can’t miss the gurgling fountain in the middle of the maple-shaded town square in downtown Plymouth.
In the summer, it’s one of my favorite places in the morning to relax in the shade of a nearby bench and watch the bubbling fountain.
As do families in the area, several who I saw this morning with their young toddlers enjoying the spurts of water into the air.
Sadly, it’s not clear what the future of the fountain might be.
A November 2018 Hometown Life story about the fate of the fountain discusses the needed repairs and lack of funding to replace or repair the aging 50-year-old fountain.
Speaking for myself, and the many families I saw at the fountain this weekend, I hope additional money is found.
I want to enjoy the fountain next year, and many years to come!
