With last week’s below zero wind chill temperatures and yesterday’s icy rain, I was glad to finally get outside and do some birding and hiking in our neighborhood park.
Temperatures in the mid-50s and the sun peeking out from the clouds made for an enjoyable, but wet exploration of the woods that line the creek winding through our neighborhood.
Finding the trail along the creek was a bit challenging.
Yesterday’s rain brought down even more leaves from the maples and oaks that seem to be hanging on to their leaves longer than normal this year.
Trust me, there is a trail in the midst of all those leaves!
It was a quiet day for birding; I didn’t see or hear much activity other than Mallards, Black-capped Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, and Blue Jays.
