While May’s full moon was at its peak at 1:34PM last Friday, May 5, 2023, I managed to capture this shot the night before when we had a few moments of clear skies in southeast Michigan.
A minute after I took the photo, the moon was obscured by clouds. Talk about good timing!
I’m familiar with names for full moons in other months, Strawberry Moon in June, Harvest Moon in September, and Hunter’s Moon in October.
But I didn’t know May’s full moon was known as the Flower Moon.
From the Farmer’s Almanac, I learned alternative names for May’s full moon are Budding Moon (Cree), Frog Moon (Cree), Planting Moon (Dakota Lakota), and Milk Moon.
