Whenever I attend WordCamps, local WordPress conferences, I always find time to visit the local arboretum or botanical gardens in the city where the WordCamp is held.
Whether it’s first thing in the morning before sessions begin or in the evening, I love to take a stroll through the arboretums and gardens to see the local trees, shrubs, and flowers.
And this weekend was no different when I attended WordCamp Columbus 2016 in Columbus, Ohio.
Since I had visited the beautiful Chadwick Arboretum in 2014 and 2015, I wanted to explore other Columbus gardens.
Thanks to my friend Angie Meeker, who told me Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens was open early in the morning, I headed out after breakfast for an early morning walk.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, strolling through the gardens by myself early in the morning.

But I had no reason to be concerned.
Families and couples were walking throughout the gardens. Joggers passed me as I stopped to view the colorful flower beds, fountains, and sculptures.
And I met and chatted with a young woman who just moved to Columbus from Brooklyn, New York. She’s starting a new job in Columbus and was visiting Franklin Park for the first time.
When I discovered she’s planning to visit the Detroit Institute of Arts in a month; I was happy to share some of my favorite places near the art institute.
Check out some of the photos I took today:
