Photo of the Week: First Bloom on Rose Mallow

What a treat to see the first blooms of my pink Rose Mallow plant in my garden today!

I planted it two years ago and this year was the first year the Rose Mallow bloomed.

All I could say when I saw the bloom this morning was, what a gorgeous flower!

My neighbor’s Rose Mallow has been blooming for the past couple weeks. Guess mine is a late bloomer!

I bought the plant at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor at their perennial sale and I’ve been anxious to see the color of the bloom.

After last winter’s cold, warm, cold spells, I wasn’t sure how the Rose Mallow would survive the extreme changes in weather.

If you live in southeast Michigan, or in an area that had extreme changes in temperature during the past winter, how did your plants fare?
