While beds of bright yellow daffodils and fiery red tulips are some of my favorite spring memories, the delicate purple color of the flowers on blooming Eastern Redbud trees is what I look forward to every spring.
The beautiful purple blooms can be seen on trees along neighborhood streets, roadsides, and trails in southeast Michigan.
The contrast of the purple against other trees’ green leaves budding out is what makes the redbud so special for me.
My favorite place to see redbuds in bloom is Lower Huron Metropark, in Belleville, Michigan where I shot this photo during a walk along their trails.
I was grateful that the past week’s heavy rainstorms didn’t cause these blooms to fall.
Their flowers don’t last long; if you’re in the area and have time to visit the park in the next week, I recommend stopping by.
The redbuds can be seen along the bike trails, the riverbed, and the main road through the park.
