Photo of the Week: Celebrating Mother’s Day

If you’re celebrating Mother’s Day today, I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating and honoring your mother with family and friends.

Today’s photo is a hand-made card/art poster my son created years ago for Mother’s Day, when he was in grade school.

Along with the card/poster, my son gave me with a handprint plaque which I keep in our curio cabinet with other treasures of our life and travels.

It’s one of my favorite Mother’s Day cards!

Mother's Day Poem

The card/poster includes a handmade portrait of my son, with the word ““Mother” spelled out vertically next to the portrait, with each letter defined:

  • M: Marvelous
  • O: Outstanding
  • T: Terrific
  • H: Humble
  • E: Extra cool
  • R: Right

Underneath is the poem:

I miss you when we’re not together,
I’m growing up so fast.
See how big I’ve gotten
Since you saw me last?
As I grow I’ll change a lot,
The years will fly right by.
You’ll wonder how I grew so quick
When and where and why?
So look upon this handprinted plaque
That’s hanging on your wall,
And memories will come back of me,
When I was very small.

Happy Mother’s Day!

(Note: I searched online for the the poem’s auther, but couldn’t find any author attribution. If you know the author, let me know so I can include their name.)
