Photo of the Week: Calm Fall Morning at Barton Pond

Our first official fall event for the Washtenaw Audubon Society was this weekend (autumnal equinox or first day of fall was September 22, 2022 at 9:03pm).

The morning walk at Barton Nature Area in Ann Arbor, Michigan took us on the trails near the river as we searched for fall warblers, dodged multiple rain showers, and took in this picturesque view of Barton Pond.

Very few fall colors in the trees can be seen across the water.

Two of my best sightings for the day: Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Black-throated Blue Warbler.

Calm waters, cloud reflections in the pond, and no boats made for a perfect spot to linger for a while and enjoy the quiet of the morning.
