Last week, I enjoyed visiting the Philadelphia Flower Show for the first time.
I shared some of my favorite photos of flowers and plants as well as several shots from the Yellowstone National Park exhibit.
What I missed sharing were some of the amazing land features from the exhibit, including this replica of the steaming Morning Glory Pool.
The geothermal pool was named for its blue color, similar to the color of the Morning Glory flower. The yellow rings of color you see in the pool are due to bacteria.
It’s hard to see steam rising from the pool in my photo, but you can admire the gorgeous colors.
I was glad Stoney Banks Nursery, who designed and created the Yellowstone National Park exhibit at the flower show and won Best of Show, didn’t include the sulfur smell of the pool!
If you’ve ever visited Yellowstone National Park in person, you might recognize the orange and white land formation in the background, to the left of the pool.
Orange Mound, part of Mammoth Hot Springs, is formed from acidic water dissolving limestone. It also had steam rising from the mound.
Impressive!
