Today is day 50 of 2025.

Only 28 days until spring arrives in the Northern Hemisphere.

I can be optimistic, can’t I?

A bitter cold week in southeast Michigan, with wind chills in the negative double digits at night, makes me glad for bright spots of sunshine during the day.

When I learned in December 2024 that Detroit was the 10th US city with a Michelin Green Guide, I couldn’t wait to get my own copy.

Visit Detroit’s press release about the Michelin Green Guide for Detroit announced the English version of the guide would be available in late December 2024.

When I searched for the guide throughout January 2025, I couldn’t find any place where I could buy the English version.

Great Backyard Bird Count 2025

Returning for its 28th year, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) kicks off this weekend for a four-day free and fun event to count and report details of birds.

From Friday, February 14, 2025 through Monday, February 17, 2025 thousands of people around the world will take as little as 15 minutes to notice birds around them and report them online.

The information shared by GBBC participants helps scientists better understand global bird populations.
