History buff that I am, I’ve been a fan of the National Treasure movies since the first movie was released in 2004.
Hard to believe that’s almost 20 years ago!
Yes, I thought some of the theories discussed in the movie were doubtful.
Preposterous.
Unbelievable.
But like many other folks, I got caught up in the adventures and hunt.
Little did I know that the theories may not be that improbable.
At least according to the hosts of the popular National Treasure Hunt podcast.
Which is why I’m excited to attend the National Archives Foundation event on July 1, 2023.
National Archives Foundation Presents National Treasure Hunt: One Step Short of Crazy
One of many activities and events for The Civic Season, the National Archives Foundation is hosting co-authors Dr. Aubrey Paris and Dr. Emily Black for a discussion of their book, National Treasure Hunt: One Step Short of Crazy.
According to the event description, the discussion takes:
a scene-by-scene approach to prove that the 2004 film National Treasure, like protagonist Benjamin Franklin Gates, is not crazy but rather one step short.
Their analyses unearth lesser-known stories from history while considering the ethics of character decisions, assessing comparisons with similar film franchises, interpreting key deleted scenes, and revealing behind-the-scenes secrets from filming.
