On Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, we honor and remember the American men and women who died in military service.
Originally set aside as a day to honor Union soldiers who died in the American Civil War, the Memorial Day holiday expanded its scope to honor all military personnel who died while serving in the United States armed service.
Thank you for defending our country, our democratic principles, and our Constitution.
Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it.
It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.
