The woman seated in the row ahead of me on the plane couldn’t stop laughing. Each time another 20-30 second section of video was shown, she burst out laughing.
She wasn’t watching Trading Places or Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
What was the video that kept the woman in front of me laughing?
She was watching Delta’s pre-flight safety video (sadly, Delta has removed their online safety videos).
And I was laughing with her. As were many passengers I could hear laughing behind me.
Having Fun With In-Flight Safety Videos
I’ve been a fan of the Delta pre-flight safety videos for years. I’m not sure of their schedule, but each year they seem to come out with a new video.
Often, Delta will have a special holiday safety video that only shows at the end of the year.
And for each video, Delta makes sure to add just the right amount of fun and laughs while providing key information to passengers on how to stay safe while flying.
Who would think of showing a man using a leaf blower to demonstrate clear aisles in a safety video?
Or how about learning how to fasten and unfasten your seat belt from a fellow with the letters from the word “seat belt” tattooed on his fingers?
My personal favorite is the rough air example with the doctor playing “Operation.”
Hilarious to watch the video and find:
- The man on the Quaker Oats box
- Alex Trebek
- The sign to eat a slice of cake
- A pair of legs belonging to a big bird (not sure if it was Big Bird)
- A traffic citation
Shoutout to Delta’s team members for mixing things up and making entertaining safety videos that are fun to watch. Well done!
How about you? Do you have a favorite pre-flight safety video?
