This week, Bill and Melinda Gates released their 2015 Gates Annual Letter, Our Big Bet for the Future.
The letter outlined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation commitment for the next 15 years to improve global development, health, and education.
Our big bet: The lives of people in poor countries will improve faster in the next 15 years than at any other time in history. And their lives will improve more than anyone else’s.
I was impressed with the aggressive goals set in this year’s annual letter, which described how technology and education can improve worldwide issues affecting the lives of people in poor countries.
Specifically, three goals in the next 15 years caught my attention:
- Eradicate four diseases
- Cut the child death rate by half
- Reduce the number of women who die in childbirth by two-thirds
And there was something new in their annual letter this year, an invitation to become a Global Citizen.
The Gates Foundation is hoping to recruit millions of people to follow an issue of global importance. Learn about it, raise awareness, and if you care to, give money towards it.
If you haven’t read the letter, check out this less than two-minute video summary.
