How To Find Your First Tweet

Happy birthday Twitter!

In celebration of its eighth birthday, Twitter created the First Tweets site that allows you to find your first tweet.

Not only could you find your first tweet, you could enter any Twitter username to find their first tweet.

People were excited to share their first tweet using the hashtag #FirstTweet.

Sadly, the First Tweets site is no more. Twitter took it down.

But, there is still an option, with more steps, for you to find your first tweet.

My First Tweet

I’d been on Twitter for almost seven years in 2014 when I searched for my first tweet.

With over 60,000 tweets, I was curious to take a look back at my first tweet.

Trying to figure out how to reply to other twitter posts.

Friends and colleagues who know me well probably aren’t surprised by my first tweet.

I checked out some of my friends’ first tweets as well:

10 days tweeting for @stcaccess made me realize I needed to do my own tweeting as well!

And then I checked some of my favorite sites:

After 3 weeks of vacation and 1 week playing catch up at work, I’m back on line. Much accessibility news to discuss; may need to blog.

How to Find Your First Tweet

Since Twitter’s First Tweet website no longer exists, you’ll have a few more steps to take to find your first tweet.

  1. Visit your Twitter profile to find the date for when you joined Twitter
  2. Use Twitter’s advanced search to add your Twitter account and a date range (perhaps the month you joined to three months after?) to find your first tweets
  3. When the search results display, use the horizontal navigation to change the sort results from Top to Latest. Here are the initial search results for my friend pfanderson.
Twitter advanced search results highlighting Top and Latest sort options at top of results page.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the search results to get your first tweet

Have you checked out your first tweet?
