Every fall I look forward to MACFest, the annual fall concert for student a capella groups at the University of Michigan.
Organized by the Michigan A Capella Council, MACFest showcases 16 student groups, the largest collegiate a capella community in the United States.
Last night’s performance marked the 15th annual MACFest; I’ve attended since 2005. Rackham Auditorium is the perfect venue for the performance, where a capella fans, fellow students, parents, and the community can enjoy an amazing evening of music.
It’s wonderful to see how the love of a capella music has grown in the community. Over the years, I’ve seen the number of a capella groups grow from 10 to the current 16 groups.
And I’ve seen the attendance grow from an audience with large numbers of open seats available to last night’s performance where the only seats available were those with a blocked view of the singers.
If you’re a fan of a capella music, it’s a concert you don’t want to miss!
