Woohoo! One of my favorite resources for learning to manage content on your WordPress site, Easy WP Guide WordPress Manual was released today for WordPress 5.0, updated with info about using the new editor.
Code named Gutenberg while it was in testing, the new Block Editor for WordPress 5.0 is a completely different method for writing, updating, and managing content.
The goal for the new editor was to be more flexible and offer an easier way for WordPress users to add rich media, without knowing how to code.
And with the change to the new Block Editor, there was a big change in how to add content.
Resulting in a complete rewrite by Anthony Hortin, the author of Easy WP Guide.
What’s Inside Easy WP Guide for 5.0
You’ll find 60+ new pages in Easy WP Guide describing the steps to edit content in WordPress 5.0, along with new screenshots.
Since user documentation was not available when WordPress 5.0 was released, I’m recommending Easy WP Guide for WordPress 5.0 to every WordPress user.
Documentation for WordPress 5.0 is available for designers and developers, but user documentation is still in the works (not available as of January 2, 2018).
Thankfully, Easy WP Guide walks you through the new editing experience, with attention to details you might overlook when adding content.
With the new WordPress 5.0 editor, you’ll find a different layout and options for adding content.
Without the manual, you’ll be guessing what you do when you first select Add a Post or Add a Page.
Hortin explains in detail the new options, as well as the new terms used to describe the content-editing experience.
You’ll learn about the:
- Block Editor Toolbar
- Settings Sidebar, with the Document and Block tab
- Block Content Area
- Block Inserter popup panel
Here are a few of the topics from the Table of Contents:
- Dashboard
- Selecting Your Theme
- Posts versus Pages
- Block Editor (with sections of adding pages, posts, Block Editor tools, adding content with blocks, rearranging blocks, etc.)
- Classic Editor (how to manage your site if you choose not to use the new Block Editor)
- Settings
- Keeping Your Site Updated
How to Get Easy WP Guide
Whether you like reading on desktop, on your mobile device, or prefer a brandable Word document, Hortin has you covered.
You can read the manual online for free, or you can choose to buy the
- Mobile versions, at $5.00 (Australian dollars)
- Brandable Word document, at $13.00 (Australian dollars)
The mobile version of the guide is available in ePub and MobiPocket formats.
What I like is that consultants and agencies can buy the brandable Easy WP Guide 5.0 ersion (Word format) that can be customized for client training.
Note: if you distribute the brandable version to more than 20 clients, you’ll need to buy a separate license for each block of 20 clients.
Summary
If you’re been looking for a straightforward explanation for editing content in WordPress 5.0, Easy WP Guide for WordPress 5.0 is for you.
Shoutout to Anthony for his dedication to helping WordPress users learn how to create, update, and manage content in the new Block Editor.
