Do You Use WordPress? Complete the 2017 WordPress User Survey

It’s back for another year! The seventh annual WordPress user survey is now available.

If you use WordPress in any way, whether you’re a:

  • Blogger
  • Writer
  • Photographer
  • Business owner
  • Hobbyist
  • Designer
  • Developer
  • Programmer
  • Digital marketer
  • Manager
  • Or someone else

you’re invited to take the annual survey.

The survey is short, only 15 questions. It took me less than five minutes to complete. All responses and IP addresses will be kept anonymous.

Results of the Survey

In the past, the survey results were shared at Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word (SOTW) address in December at WordCamp US. (Check out past SOTW videos on WordPress.tv.)

However, the results from the 2015 and 2016 surveys were never published, which caused concern from some of the WordPress community this year (me included) when the 2017 WordPress User Survey was announced.

My friend Jeff Chandler published his thoughts on WP Tavern in his post Results From the 2017 WordPress User Survey Are Not Guaranteed to Be Shared.

He commented that if thousands of people voluntarily offer their info to the survey,

…sharing the results with the public whether it’s a blog post, separate session, or during the State of the Word, would be a nice way to return the favor.

His post generated a fair number of comments, including
a comment from Andrea Middleton , where I learned it was an oversight that the 2015 and 2016 survey results were never published.

Plans are for a post to be published with the 2015 and 2016 data before the end of 2017.

Good to hear!

Matt Mullenweg also commented on Jeff’s post, apologizing for the delay, and asking for suggestions for how to provide the data while ensuring the individual response privacy.

Prior Year Surveys

If you’re interested, here’s a photo of Matt Mullenweg from his 2014 State of the Word address, where he shared that year’s annual survey results.

I didn’t attend in person, but was glad to watch the address on livestream.

In 2014, over 33,000 people from 179 countries took the annual survey. One of the interesting takeaways: 77 percent of responses were from people outside the United States.

Take the Survey!

If you haven’t already submitted your responses to the survey, take the survey! Here’s your chance to give feedback about how you use WordPress.

I liked that the survey includes free-form answers, not everything is a checkbox or radio button you select.
