Did you know June 7 is National Trails Day (NTD) in the United States?
Held the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day is hosted by the American Hiking Society. It’s a day of public events for the community to celebrate, promote, steward, and conserve our trails.
NTD has been held since 1992, with thousands of hikers, bikers, horseback riders, birders, rowers, trail clubs, federal and local organizations, land trusts, and businesses coming together to enjoy, maintain, and clean up our trails.
This year, American Hiking Society is encouraging everyone to become trail stewards on any trail, anywhere.
If you want to participate in a local National Trails Day event near you, the American Hiking Society has a helpful find an event page to locate events within five to 100 miles from a city or zip code.
In metro Detroit, I found several National Trails Day events happening on June 7, 2025, including:
- Canton Township National Trails Day and River Day Celebration from 10:00AM to 1:00PM Eastern Time at Lower Rouge Trailhead
- Ann Arbor National Trails Day BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) Hike from 11:00AM to 12:30PM Eastern Time at County Farm Park
- Milford Bike Fest from 7:00AM to 5:00PM, a five-mile to up to 100-mile bike ride starting in downtown Milford
I plan to participate, hope you’ll join me for a day on the trails!
