57% of Americans Say Science Has a Positive Effect on Society

The number of Americans who say science has a positive effect on society has fallen since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a recent survey by Pew Research Center.

Americans report a decline in public trust in scientists, decreasing eight percentage points since November 2021 and down 16 points since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

What I Found Interesting: November 8, 2023

For over 10 years, I published weekly web design and development roundup blog posts with a section titled “What I Found Interesting.”

It’s where I shared a collection of fascinating stories and resources that caught my attention that week. 

Once I retired in December 2022, I stopped publishing my weekly roundup.

But I missed sharing fun and interesting stories as well as helpful resources.

So I’m bringing back the “What I Found Interesting” section as a regular blog post.

Habitat for Humanity Detroit: Archer/McNamara Blitz Build 1997

Cleaning out old file folders I found a paper copy of the journal from my first Habitat for Humanity Detroit volunteer experience: a weeklong volunteer activity at the Archer/McNamara Blitz Build 1997.

I forgot about my journal (it’s been over 25 years), but remembered how excited I was to publish updates each day on the church website (which I managed) as part of mission outreach to our congregation.

Sadly, I only found the printout of day 4 of the blitz build.
