Blipshot: Take Screenshots with One Click

When news came out in early August 2014 that the Chrome Awesome Screenshot extension was tracking and sending browsing history, I (along with many other users) searched for an alternative. I’d been using Awesome Screenshot on my Chromebook and was quite happy with it.

Since Chromebooks don’t allow you to install any programs, I needed to find an alternative Chrome screenshot extension. After testing several extensions, I found one that fit my needs and I’ve used it for the past couple months. My choice: the Blipshot extension.

Created by Davide Casali (who works for Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com), Blipshot offers a one-click option to create a full-page screenshot (not just the visible area). There are no other options with the extension.

Once installed, Blipshot adds an icon to your Chrome toolbar. To take a screenshot, simply select the icon to take a full-page screenshot. The image will display to the right of the page. You can drag and drop the image or right-click it to save as a PNG file.

Blipshot works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

There are lots of screenshot extensions available with many features. I chose Blipshot because it was simple to use, and did its one job well.

Do you use Blipshot for taking screenshots? Or have you found another Chrome screenshot extension?
