Birdability Week Returns October 21-October 27, 2024

Virtual panel discussions and speakers, workshops on backyard birding and nature journaling, and an offbeat photography contest are among the activities planned for the 2024 Birdability Week.

An annual celebration dedicated to birders with disabilities and other health concerns, Birdability Week offers resources, events, and ideas to encourage and promote an inclusive, accessible birding community for everyone.

All virtual events feature American Sign Language (ASL) and captioning.

When you register for Birdability Week 2024, you can note on your registration if you have any other access needs.

Here are a few of the events and activities planned for Birdability Week:

Registration

Online registration to events is free.

I signed up for several events in Google Docs when I registered for Birdability Week 2024. Note some events use Eventbrite for registration.

Wrapping Up

I’m excited about this year’s Birdability Week events! I’ve registered for several virtual events, including the Advancing Trails Webinar – Making Organizations Inclusive: Stories of Deaf Gain in the Outdoors and An Afternoon of Birdsong (Google Docs document).

University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Donna Posont, who I see regularly when I join weekend bird hikes at the UM-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center, is one of the featured speakers for An Afternoon of Birdsong.

Hope you can join me at some of the free virtual events and consider your own Birdability Your Way (Google Docs document) the weekend of October 26-27, 2024.
