Advent Calendars for Web Professionals: 2015

They’re back! Today kicks off the first day of Advent calendars for web designers, developers, programmers, content strategists, heck, anyone who works on the web.

Each year I look forward to December 1 to get inspired from the “regular” Advent calendars I follow each year, 24 ways, Performance Calendar, Sys Advent, and Web Krauts, and to discover new calendars.

I was sad to learn there’s no UXMas Advent calendar this year for user experience professionals.

The folks at UX Mastery have been busy and decided to take a break. I’m looking forward to seeing their calendar next year.

I did discover a couple new Advent calendars, and I hope you enjoy them.

Take a look at this year’s roundup of calendars and let me know what your favorite is.

24 ways

Celebrating its 11th year, the 24 ways calendar continues to bring some of the best web design and development tips, advice, and insights for web geeks.

Performance Calendar

Returning for its seventh year, Dean Hume’s Performance Calendar will get you up to speed (yes, pun intended) on improving the performance of your websites and web apps.

Web Design Advent Calendar

New this year is Michelle Barker’s Web Design Advent Calendar on Codepen. Over the past year, Barker has continued to learn more about CSS and decided to create the Advent calendar as personal project.

Look behind the calendar window each day and discover some of the “best articles, videos and tips from the past year in web design.”

Marketing Advent Calendar

Tips for marketing, web design, social media, and more are what you’ll find in Bop Design’s Marketing Advent Calendar. I couldn’t find a date for the calendar, so I’m not sure when this calendar was published.

It’s a Shape Christmas

Launched in 2011 by Shape as a cooperative project between students, graduates, and professionals, It’s a Shape Christmas features 25 creatives from around the world who have created illustrations around four different shapes: square, triangle, circle and hexagram.

Content Strategy Advent Calendar

Great to see this year’s Content Strategy Calendar from the good folks at Gather Content. Each day a different expert will share content strategy tips and advice in a new video (with transcripts).

Sys Advent Calendar

Dating back to 2008, the Sys Advent Calendar is one of the older technology focused Advent calendars that I know of. Written by sysadmins, you’ll find a wide range of articles about all things system administration.

Web Krauts Advent Calendar

Along with 24 ways, the Web Krauts Advent Calendar is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year. Unless you can read German, you’ll need to use Google Translate or some other tool to translate the daily posts on frontend development, tools, and web standards.

Perl Advent Calendar

The Perl Advent calendar has found a new home at PerlAdvent.org. Not sure if Len Jaffe is still involved with the calendar, as he has in the past. I couldn’t find any reference on the site about who’s behind the calendar this year.

Have you found any other web-related Advent calendars? Share them in the comments
