I can't remember the first time we went to the Plymouth Ice Festival; it must be over 20 years. The festival is something we always look forward to doing in January. Lots of good memories of below zero temperatures, rain-outs where the sculptures melted away, and culinary arts student teams competing against each other for awards.
As with other community events, this year's event has been scaled down, though it doesn't seem that the crowds were any less. While there were many beautiful, intricate ice sculptures, this is the first year we didn't see large sculptures, like those in years past. The blue mastodon above was the largest sculpture we saw this year. Compare it to the two large sculptures below from 2005.
