As protests against the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota continue for the second week, I’m glad our communities are having conversations about racism, police brutality, and injustice.
I’m doing my best to be an ally: to listen, learn the history of racism, and take action to fight racism and injustice.
I encourage others to do the same.
Racism has a cost for everyone, public policy expert Heather C. McGhee explains in her 14-minute talk at TED Women 2019.
Racism leads to bad policy making. It makes the economy worse.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
We don’t have to be divided, only focusing on what benefits you at the expense of another person.
There’s another way, as McGhee points out in her talk.
Watch, listen, and learn.
